“Inhale. Exhale. Tap.”
-Dr. D
Hello! Dr. D here, excited to share one of my favorite ways to use movement for desired effects – in this case, the movement of tapping!
The concept of tapping is used in both Eastern and Western medicine. I will explore this more in future posts, including a variety of ways to employ tapping, but for this post, I want to share a tap I try to do daily in order to strengthen my immune system – the thymus tap!
The thymus is a specialized, primary organ of the immune system responsible for the maturation of T cells. T cells are critical to the adaptive immune system, i.e. the body’s ability to adapt and defend itself against foreign invaders.
You can stimulate it by tapping, firmly but not so hard as to cause discomfort. I’ll do this on the plane, when I am feeling run down or during flu season. It’s certainly a part of my new COVID normal!
I also love to do it this way in a yoga, stretch, or meditation session. It also stimulates the heart chakra, more on that when I talk about Ayurveda, one of the oldest medical practices in the world. Therefore I like to think or say what I am grateful for as I do it.
I hope you enjoyed my first post on tapping, as I have so much more to share on its endless uses. After all, as they say, “there’s a tap for that.” Stay tuned, stay well, and namaste.
